I know in Southern California we don’t get the message a new season is coming from Mother Nature, but there are other signs it’s happening. The students have gone back to school, there are Friday night football games, and Halloween candy and costumes are in the stores. Fall is just around the corner.
It’s my favorite time of year! I love that eventually it will cool down. We’ll put on jeans and sweaters and start thinking about Thanksgiving and Christmas. January 1st is our official New Year, but Autumn gives us an opportunity to live out the rest of this year in an intentional way. What would you like to see happen? When you gather around the Thanksgiving table, what plans will you share with your family and friends? Once all the Christmas celebrations are over, what will you be looking forward to in 2023?
Is homeownership or a change in your housing situation on the horizon? I recently listened to a podcast that reminded me buying or selling a home is a process. It takes time, work, and guidance. Now might be the perfect time to start preparing for it.
Buyers: Have you spoken with a mortgage lender? Do you know your credit score? Do you have anything on your credit history that is incorrect or needs to be cleared up? Where are you financially in savings and expenses? The answers to these questions will help you know your budget and allow you to plan.
Sellers: Why move? What issues are you hoping to solve with a change of housing? Is moving truly the best option? If so, is your home ready to sell? Is there any deferred maintenance that can be taken care of now? Have you cleaned out, decluttered, and edited your possessions? Have you binge watched the HGTV shows to help you choose market ready updates? The holidays are coming, why not get the house looking great for company?
I love a good project. I like the planning and the implementation. I know big changes like where you live don’t happen instantly. If you need some help, I’d love to be on your team. Come visit me over at FirstHomeEd.com and let’s get started.
So many good things to come,
Diana Cohen
