So much has happened in such a short amount of time!! First, and very important, Marc went back to work this week! Thank you to all of you who reached out to him and sent your best wishes for his speedy recovery! It worked!
Almost as important, and definitely as rewarding, has been the welcome we have received from the Project House’s neighbors. We have people stopping by daily with encouraging words of our progress, or stories of the house and former owners. We have Art who loves plants and dropped off three beautiful plumerias for us to plant in our yard. We met Elia today who lives behind us and brought us home-grown bell peppers. Henry is our 86 year old neighbor who has all the history and loves to share it with us. It’s a little sad that we will be moving on in a few weeks.
Some things we will come back for are all of the great restaurants. Someone from the crew takes care of ordering and bringing in lunch each day. It’s been really fun trying all the different places to eat. A favorite of my brothers is Tacos Los Reyes for their amazing carnitas! It doesn’t matter how they’re wrapped, (taco, burrito, or torta), their carnitas are delicious!! We’ve also made a tradition of Friday Donut Day with a stop at Friendly Doughnuts for some of their creative concoctions. Dossants anyone?? We are also within walking distance of In ‘n Out! It’s a veritable food Mecca!
Another familiar sound for me is children playing on the playground. We are just around the corner from a preschool and just up the street from McPhearson Magnet School for Technology, Math, & Science. We hear the laughter and sometimes the tears, and then the bell that signals recess is over. It reminds me what an impact our schools have on our neighborhoods, and what a draw it is for families when the home they purchase has a great school close by.
We are doing all we can to make our Project House a great home. It’s already in a great location, and very soon, it will be fresh and updated and warm and inviting. If you’re thinking of buying a new home or fixing up your existing one to sell, come visit me over at FirstHomeEd.com and let’s get started.
So many good things to come,
Diana Cohen
